Упражнение 1. Раскрываем скобки

1. Sofi (to write) the essay for the three hours when Matt came.
2. Arthur (to wait) in the airport for five hours before they announced that the plane was delayed.
3. I opened the window and saw lots of snow. It (to snow) all night long?
4. She (to train) in the gym for the whole year to become fit when she met her ex-husband.
5. The girls (to talk) on the phone for an hour when the line was separated.
6. How long they (to cook) the dinner before the girls started helping them?
7. Mary (to work) for 25 years in the company before she retired.
8. They (to build) the house for 5 years before they moved in.
9. Mark (to drive) the car for 20 hours when he almost got into the accident.

Упражнение 2. Ставим глагол в необходимую форму

1. Lori gained a lot of weight as she (eat) too much recently.
2. She (to study) French for three years before they went to Paris.
3. Pater (to play) football with that team for five years before they finally won the championship.
4. John was breathing heavily as he (to run) a marathon for 6 hours.
5. It (to rain) all night long as the grass was wet.
6. He (to work) as a sales manager for 5 years before he became the head of sales department.
7. The lecturer (to talk) for a few minutes when the headmaster came in.
8. My clothes were wet as I (to wash) my dog.
9. She (to travel) in India for 5 months before she finally reached Rishikesh.
10. Her hands were dirty. She (to garden) the plants.

Упражнение 3. Переводим на на английский язык

1. Она занималась танцами на протяжении 5 лет, когда ее позвали в профессиональную группу.
2. Она долго плакала прежде, чем ей принесли чай.
3. Наконец-то я закончила читать книгу. Я читала ее очень долгое время.
4. Когда я вернулась домой, отец все еще красил дверь. Он красил ее все утро.
